10th February Update: In the 2024 Telangana Budget presentation on February 10th, it was declared that the Rythu Bharosa Scheme will soon be implemented across the state.
Following the Congress party’s electoral success in Telangana, the Telangana Rythu Bharosa Scheme was established with the objective of providing financial recompense to farmers for their agricultural contributions. Under this scheme, farmers are granted an annual subsidy of Rs. 15,000 for every acre they cultivate. Tenant farmers, those who rent land for agriculture, also receive Rs. 15,000 annually. Additionally, paddy cultivators and farm laborers are eligible for an annual bonus of Rs. 500. Another initiative announced by Congress during the electoral campaign was the Telangana Mahalakshmi Scheme, which promises financial aid to farmers and agricultural workers, contingent upon Congress winning the forthcoming assembly elections and forming the state government in Telangana.
