Apun Bahan Scheme Assam 2024


Under the “Apun Bahan” initiative, the State Government will provide interest subsidies on vehicle loans secured from scheduled commercial banks, regional rural banks, and the Assam Cooperative Apex Bank, which is recognized by the Reserve Bank of India. This scheme enables government employees to benefit from subsidized interest rates on their vehicle loans.

Eligibility Criteria of the Scheme


Regular employees of the State Government, aged between 21 and 53, qualify for the program. This criterion ensures that the duration of their employment aligns with the maximum loan term of 7 years.

Purpose of the Scheme


The Assam government has launched the “Apun Bahan” program specifically to aid employees of the Assam state government. Through this initiative, government workers can obtain motor vehicle loans with a 2% interest subsidy. This subsidy increases to 3% for female and Divyangjan (persons with disabilities) employees. A budget of 12 crores has been allocated for this scheme.

1.Male employees opting for diesel or petrol vehicles are eligible for a 2% interest subsidy. This subsidy increases to 3% if they choose electric vehicles. Female employees and employees with disabilities will receive a 3% interest subsidy for the purchase of any vehicle.
2.The maximum permissible loan amount for employees is either 15 lakh rupees or 48 times their net monthly salary, whichever is lower.
3.The Assam Government previously introduced the “Apun Ghar” scheme, benefiting 36,159 employees with a total loan portfolio amounting to 4,984 crore rupees.
4.A total of 108 crore rupees has been allocated to assist government employees in acquiring homes and vehicles.

Apun Bahan Scheme Assam Application Steps

STEP 1: Government employees wishing to apply for the Apun Bahan Scheme Assam can submit their applications through their Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs).

STEP 2: Applicants must gather all necessary documents and the application form from the relevant bank and submit everything to their DDOs.

STEP 3: The submitted documents should include a current salary statement (due and drawal statement) of the government employee, which the concerned DDO will certify directly on the form.

STEP 4: Bank authorities will review the application form to determine the applicant’s eligibility.

STEP 5: If deemed eligible by the bank, the applicant will receive the financial assistance directly into his or her salary account.
